Why I Run FreeBSD as a Desktop

- tags :: Blog Post FreeBSD Tools

Overview

There’s some silly stuff on the net about FreeBSD and BSDs in general. I think I

owe folks an article outlining why I prefer running FreeBSD

- Small community where it’s possible to make a difference

- Less pressure to make it a “desktop” OS like Linux

- Easier to hold what’s going on with the system in your head

- I need reasons to force me to use more F/OSS and public code

- Easy on linux to end up installing some crazy package that’s actually closed source

- Spotify, Zoom, Slack … these make it easy to support non-free software
