Journal

Spent last night furiously making candy for easter. You can be sure that I was

unimpressed with Emma's plan to make the kids candy this year. What I falied to

appreciate was that the kids were going to get metric tons of other commercial

candy at the easter egg hunt.

So it was kind of nice, when, after breakfast the kids hunted down their easter

baskets and found homemade marshmallows, "gumdrops" (which were really knox

blox), chocolate covered candied citrus, and toffee. The marshmallows were a

big coup. We had enough to take them to coffee hour afterward and they were a

huge hit there too.

Jess Morehouse was really concerned about Peter at church. He wondered to

Margaret if there was something the church community could do to help. After we

left coffee hour for the egg hunt, we came back to a mostly empty church and

chatted with Margaret quite a bit about Peter. My reckoning with the issue right

now is that Peter seems to have some sort of a plan that he's unwilling to

communicate to anyone, but has led him to completely write off any rules or

suggestions people have for him. I'm curious what happens next with Peter after

he gets screened for drugs at school tomorrow.
