23:03 Sleep

Okay, so it's past 2300. I swore I'd be in bed by now. I should go to bed. But I ought to journal first. I'm trying to hack around in my day to make myself more efficient. There's too much to do, and I'm not always good at focusing on the things that matter. Which means that eventually I drop something, and everything else falls apart.

One approach would be to simply not sweat the details when things fall apart. I will try that in certain measures. But I would also like to get better at prioritizing and using my time. That's where org-mode, GTD and second-brain come in. What I need is a block of time to setup my system, ironically. I'd prefer a daily review process that I can follow easily in Emacs. Something where emails get processed into tasks promptly, ideas that I had get captured, and events wind up in front of me at just the right time.

While working towards that, I've also been put out recently by having to do everything around the farm. Yesterday I moved the sheep fence, and when one length got tangled I asked Emma if she could maybe take a look. It was stopping e from getting the sheep on pasture, which was a goal of mine for the day. So when she stayed inside reading, got pissy and just wrapped the white fence around the hole in the green one, hooked it up to the energizer, and said fuck-it.

It worked, but I didn't end my time in a good place. I feel bad though, because she already feels bad for not being able to do much. This pregnancy has really put her out of commission in a way the others did not. It doesn't help that we don't have the chill, calming effects of Ellie and Donna here either. I love Dani, but she has a very different way of working that is more about putting forwards all the possibilities, rather than downplaying things that are unlikely.

Thus, we've had the gestational diabetes scare, and concern over the baby going head down too late. We may still have complications related to these things, but I think Ellie and Donna would have downplayed things to help Emma keep an even keel. Instead, Emma is now fretting about the baby not being head down.

On the diabetes front, however, it has turned our diet right around. Emma's been really good about avoiding carbs, and we've all been eating more vegetables.
