Journal
Started the day lazily in bed with Emma, until I looked at my phone and
remembered the town-gown meeting for today ... sigh. Got there about 15 minutes
late, and thankfully Gordon had already started the meeting. I was able to jump
right in the conversation and start contributing.
Of course, today is also my birthday, which has never really been that big a
deal to me. Emma will make a big deal about things, but I'm not sure how much of
a big deal I need made. We've been talking about driving down to the Island or a
playground in Camden, so we'll see if those plans get off the ground or not.

Finished the day at Men's Club. I wasn't sure how tactless it was to take my
birthday dinner away from the family. But I was really glad I went, as Nat
Barrows was the speaker and it was really nice to catch up with him about all
the various things going on. He's still Nat, though, and his talk was pretty dry
and took a long time getting to points sometimes. I'm still in awe of what he's
been able to do with the newspapers around here for so many years. But I am
nervous that he still doesn't really see the bigger landscape when it comes to
media in 2019.
