Journal
The first day with Emma in Arizona with Jane has been a success so far! I got
both kids on the bus, Asa to Wendy-Lou's and Nabby to the Big House just in time
for my 9 a.m. meeting. I had a block of meetings this afternoon and will then go
pick kids up in town.
I think one of the challenges with this break is to make plans to get things
done at specific times. I also need to be aware that Emma might feel insecurity
if things run too smoothly while she's gone. Maybe that's pure hubris, but I
really do feel like, while I don't do things the way she wants me to all the
time, most of my tasks are done with an eye to efficiency so they actually do
get done.
Working off William Kent's Basic Things list, worms are curious creatures. My
mind immediately jumps to earthworms, but I suppose there are lots of types of
worms. Interestingly, many of them are phase transitions for other forms of
life. Grubs and larvae are a form of worm, though I don't think scientifically
