Yesterday's run wipped me out. No idea where the exhaustion came from, but I
was just dog tired the whole time. And my heart rate showed it too.
In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out whether I should accept a new
engineering offer at Sure. I started the interview process just as an
exploration. I don't think I should be too quick to jettison my three years of
experience at 15Five. But that the same time, when I think about things for
too long I grow really despondent in my current role. Moving beyond my role
seems fraught with misunderstandings.
We've lost a lot of engineers and product managers over the last few months.
Eric Hamiter was one who left without saying much. When I reached out on
LinkedIn to see what happened he said things got really miserable with Ze and
was compounded by not getting a raise he thought he was due. It's hard not to
sympathize with him.
I've got my 1-on-1 with Esther at the top of the hour down, and then I jump
into my final interview with Yarden at Sure. Staring at to versions of the
future and I know which one I impulsively want (to move on) but am wondering
if it would be a mistake to jump at the first new opportunity.
Emma suggested I wait to see what comp looks like, and that's totally fair.
Sure is twisting things trying to figure out how much they can get away
offering me. So maybe I wont get an offer, or it will be low-balled anyway.
Maybe I wont have a decision this afternoon.
In any case, we're hiking Great Pond Mountain when I get out of that call,
so I'll have plenty of time to turn things over.
