Thoughts on this: this is why frameworks like Django prolifierate. We could all

build our own frameworks to handle web requests. Flask, FastAPI, Pyramid. There

are arguments to be made about composability, flexibility, and tooling.

But at the end of the day, when you implement a middleware in Django, there are

a lot of other engineers out there who can sit down in your seat and start

addressing issues in it, with low cognitive overhead.

Consider a flask app where there's a bunch of standard packages that give you

things like an ORM (sqlalcchemy), auth (flask-login), or external scripting

(flask-script). That's nuts. At some point one of those is going to go

unmaintained and there will be no one to argue with, because the package is

separate from Flask itself.

Journal

Woke up feeling guilty for things not done. Mostly I realized I still hadn't

sent hymn information to Ian for the service this Sunday.

On top of that, I didn't get paid. Which makes our bills on the first of the

month a scary proposition. Need to either talk to my dad again or figure

something else out.

In the meantime, work itself is going pretty well. I have a bit of a split brain

thing going on, where I'm trying to both think through my sermon for Sunday and

get work done. I think I need to do a better job of planning out my day and then

working the plan.
