This entry is a little disingenious, because I'm just trying to keep the streak alive. That said, it's been a very low key day. I didn't get most of what I wanted to done, but I got most of what was explicitly on my todo list done. I felt like I mishandled some financial things today, paying down credit cards with big chunks of cash that Emma said we were going to need for other bills. We'll see how we come out of this. Perhaps going big on paying bills when I'm switching jobs wasn't the smartest thing.

Today was unseasonably warm, so much so that I was able to dig a hole and bury the last sheep that died this season. It's been a crazy year for animals. THe fragile ones seemed to have died, while the other have toughed out the brutal cold weather. Given all that cold, it's amazing I was able to dig a hole today.

Unfortunately, it was while going out to dig that I happened upon a big section of rot in the siding of the extension, to the point where you can actually look in and see insulation in the wall. That's cannot possibly be a good thing, and I'm once again left feeling like we can't actually afford to maintain the house we bought. THat's not a new feeling, but a creeping dread. The real answer is to simply call someone and get some estimates on fixing sills and foundation issues and then moving on to painting and actually improving things. It's not useful at all to fret about this stuff, but the longer we put of at least getting quotes means it will be longer before anything all gets done and then it all gets worse.
