Journal

Somehow I managed to misplace the webcam I was going to use for the town manager

interviews this morning. I either left it at MMA, or it's just gone. I'm hoping

it's at MMA. I plan to get there a little early today so I can look and/or ask

someone in MMA's IT dept to help me out.

Thankfully there is a camera, though it's kind of crappy, on the laptop itself.

So we'll be able to send video, it's just dubious quality.

Aside from that, it was another rough night for Nabby. She had a croupy cough

when I brought her up to bed and Emma ended up awake with her for a large chunk

of the night. I'm really grateful that she let me get some sleep for a day of

interviews.

---

I'm tired. Interviews went well, but I also got a rejection notice from Marlo.

At least I still have an interview lined up for Wednesday.

---

I need to do a better job of focusing on things that need doing. Reading an

excerpt from The Miracle of Mindfulness this evening, and it's so apparent that

I'm just sort of going through the motions of doing things I think I ought to

do.

Even work and looking for a job. I feel like I ought to have a job. Somehow, my

job right now is looking for a job, which is nonesense.

Jess seemed low energy when she got back from work tonight. I've always thought

of myself as not terribly symathetic to people, but it's amazing how much

someone else can affect my mood. I've noticed this before, but it seemed more in

front of me today when she got home.

There's so many other things in her life besides our family life to preoccupy

her. Sometimes it's amazing to me that she has energy to help us with day to day

things. There's a sort of trade going on, in terms of a place to live and heat

and food and such. But it's nothing you can measure, or would want to measure.

Asa's words are coming on strong these days. His sentences have a complex flow

that only a three year old could build. "Chicken. I like it. Yes, I do."
