After fucking up my local mail setup the other day by trying to get IMAP messages to move when I re-tag them in notmuch, I ended up in bankruptcy. Effectively I've had to stip my local email directory down to the bones and rebuild it with a much more robust setup. How did I arrive at a more robust setup? By reading the documentation, of course.

I could have done this a while ago. But right now I have mbsync working with pulling new email and setup hooks on notmuch to run afew so I don't need to cobble together a bash script to make sure new messages get tagged and move on each pull.

The one thing here is that I can't manage the state of the IMAP folder via notmuch. I can view and reply to email via Emacs, and organize it locally, but that local organization is not mimicked up stream. I am not sure it's at all worth it to do that. As a low-quality replacement I've added aggressive filters to my 15Five email and Unblink email so they should get moved automatically.
