13:16 Liberty

Finished Barry's book on Roger Williams this morning, and I'm still reeling a bit from the gravity of what he thought and what he did. In many ways his stand on religious liberty reminds me of the illustration of John Adams' stand on legal representation at the beginning of the HBO mini series. Both Adams and Williams, though working in different centuries, embodied a certain mind set that Nathan Walker would refer to as moral imagination. It is not enough to simply insist others behave the way you would behave, you have to consider how they think as well.
