The house seems cleaner than it's been in a while. Part of it is the kick in the

ass Emma and I got after spending so much time in hospital. We got home and I

immediately ditched the drying rack for a towel on the counter. This freed up a

bunch of space and just made the room seem more open. I then went through and

aggressively cleaned out our room. This involved putting a bunch of crap in the

attic and sorting out a lot of clothes.

The next target was the laundry room. Emma and I managed to stack the dryer on

the washer, which cleaned up the room considerably. I'm not sure why that seemed

so important after the hospital stay, but it got done.

Cleaning up our room made me appreciate how much that space could be used for me

to work while Nabby plays on the floor. One of the biggest drawbacks to the

basement is that while it's a great space, it's cold and the floor is gross. So

the kids can sort of hangout there, but Nabby really can't go downstairs.

Emma's been reluctant to let Nabby go on long car rides since she got over the

infection, which makes total sense. But it's meant that I end up working at the

dining room table a lot, which is sub par. Our room is also a hell of a lot

warmer than the basement. So when I get back from Palm Springs, perhaps I'll be

able to work upstairs more often, and Nabby can play on the floor or somesuch.

One thing that does sort of preclude is having external monitors or another

keyboard. But maybe that's a good thing.

In the meantime, I have a really early flight tomorrow so I need to be at least

pretending to sleep.
