- Note taken on
1. Leverage
+ Finished up all the meet-and-greets on the onboarding doc, working through some other engineers and folks I’ve met in product
+ Broke the justfile flow, and learning about fixing things promptly
+ Setup a datadog monitor that promptly fired off too many alerts and adjusted the sensitivity
+ Merged my first feature branch, and also discovered discrepancies between V1/V2 functionality (surfaced by Ellen) and will take that knowledge into future work moving between API versions!
2. Alignment
+ Worked with Morgan on the best way to take up the #game-geeks channel and start a social club
+ Thinking through Ellen’s response about having a consistent model-based way to do things like un-skip orders and the hurdle of making a change like that. Given how much V1/V2/V3 work there is, I wonder if this would actually be worth the lift …
+ Supplier spotlight was fun. Wasn’t sure I’d go, but grabbed my lunch and turned my camera off and it was neat hearing about the process
3. Risks
+ Still not totally confident and/or feel like I'm bothering folks for PR reviews, but getting better
+ Some distraction at the end of last week around process and slack comms and “urgent” issues (lost an hour+ on Friday to trying to keep up)
+ Sprint load maybe a little high for a short week (plus see Friday distractions)
4. Outcomes
+ Keep up dev momentum with having most of my sprint tickets at least in code review by EOW
+ Have a first #game-geeks event planned by EOW
5. Props
+ Loved the encouragement from Dave Kong regarding breaking the justfile flow, but also glad I was able to fix it promptly
+ Jag and I had a wonderful “back in the day” meet-and-greet sharing memories about early DjangoCons and the heady pre-1.0 days of the project
+ Loved hearing Ellen’s non-trad path to engineering and sharing notes, as I also came from newspaper work before moving to startups
+ Really appreciated Ellen’s proactive and constructive approach to the V1 -> V2 CX tool issue
