Apparently I'm up for election as selectmen today :) Curiously, I'd been racking my brain about what might happen for the last week or so, and yesterday had an interview with a different company that seemed genuinely interested in my skills and wanted to schedule a follow up interview. I don't think I intend to take the job, but the fact that they were excited about my experience gave me encouragement as I drove to last nights selectmen's meeting.
I don't need to be selectman. I want to be selectman. And I would love the honor, and would relish the opportunity to help make Castine a more forward-thinking place. But I don't need it. And that was a wonderful realization. Regardless of what happens, life will go on, and I will have the opportunity to do many great things with my time, so long as I manage it appropriately and set my expectations ahead of time.
