The storm yesterday was supposd to be a mix of snow, rain and sleet. Instead, we
appear to have gotten what Bangor was supposed to get ... five or six inches of
real snow, and not a lot of rain. Emma thinks we don't have to shovel. That if
we just wait it will go away ... I'm not so sure.
In the meantime, yesterday was something of a wash at work. Rather than getting
actual work done, I spent a huge chunk of the day trying to get the stage-west
environment back and running with very limited success. Josh was able to
troubleshoot an SSH issue (super easy once I realiezd what happened), and I was
able to apply ansible roles to the stack. But once all that was done, I was
still staring at a 502 error :(

Emma took it upon herself to clean Peter's room out. She said she initially just
meant to go get paraphenalia out of his room, which seems fair on the face of
it. But what she found was a lot of stuff he lied to us about. Food in his room,
which we've explained isn't allowed. An alcohol container, a lot pot stuff, and
knives that had been missing for a long time. He knew they were missing.
Emma's done. And I can't blame her. It might have been an invasion of privacy to
go through his room, but the reality was he gave up respecting us at all a long
time ago. This was always a trial run to see if we could make it work with him
living in our house again, and he failed tremendously. Oh, and he had open
flame in his room, in the form of lighters and matches. One of the blankets he
used had a bunch of burn marks in it, so it's not even hypothetical about him
setting things on fire. He did, they just didn't lead to burning the house down,
yet.
Meriby offered to let him visit her in Cali for a few weeks. She's coming home
the end of April, and I'm not totally sure how all that would play out. He still
has school to finish, if he can.
The problem, as I see it now, is that I don't see a path towards him being able
to be honest with us and not break our rules, even the most basic of them. If I
saw a path, I think we could make it work. He has many issues. Between
depression, self-confidence issues, PTSD from his tramatic past, he has the deck
stacked against him. But in the face of doing a lot of things to help him out,
he ends up self destructing and needing other people to put him back together.
It's really exhausting, and his choices are putting our other kids in danger.
