It has occurred to me that I sometimes get lost in certain things. I was supposed to get caught up with work and do the dishes this evening. Instead, I was chasing emacs customizations. One the one hand, this is sad. That my will is so easily subverted. On the other hand, this is what makes me a curious person. The constant hacking, looking for new things and ideas and trying to make things work.
I have been able to see, now, co-workers at Ridecell who are uncurious, and I don't want to be like that. They look at you funny when you use emacs rather than pycharm, and know a lot of specific technical knowledge, but seem uninterested in the side paths. I would much rather be distratable and interested in side paths, then laser focused.
