Thinking about the Elation connected network today, and the nefarious ways a seemingly altruistic endeavor can end, and I can't help but wonder if we'd be better served to be building a value-added open-network that stores individual patient data in a place where they own it. What if primary physicians could issue tokens to their patients, in the form of an rfid tag, or paper. Encourage them to write it down or store it in a lockbox. That token allows them access to a data block that represents their medical history. A fully audit-able list of interactions with any manner of health professional?
The trick would be bootstrapping such a system, and then making sure that as a business you survived long enough to benefit from the adoption. Others have expressed the idea of storing health records in an IPFS store backed by a blockchain.
