Erik Rhoten posted the link above in chat. The idea of Shadow Boards seems to largely be a safety valve for large, otherwise succesful companies to release in case they find themselves losing relevance. The article from Harvard Business Review suggests using millenials at the comapny, but I think there's more to what they're suggesting than hedging business bets with young people in case old people can't get it done.
One thought I had was the issue of Communication Channels in companies. So much direction of a company depends on having picked the right people at the top, in C-level positions, Veeps or board members being excellent at excuting. What if they're wrong though? What if someone in the company has an idea to pitch up but doesn't see the path?

What happens when there's an accident? Everything grinds to a halt, there's no where else for traffic to go. Alternate communication channels in a company could allow people to continue communication even when one channel becomes blocked because there's a crisis the board or Senior Leadership Team don't have the bandwidth to hear or respond.

Make your own pizza night was great except that it took a lot longer to pull all the toppings together. Emma and I were having a good time working in the kitchen together. She was making toppings and I was pulling out the crusts and baking them. Then, after all the kids had more or less eaten and trotted off Emma got really quiet and the evening wasn't quite the same after that. She got sucked into looking at things on IMDB while I got the kids ready for bed, cleaned up from dinner and did the animal chores.
Aside from that, I feel pretty good about what I got done this evening. I still need to reply to an email from Michael at Gusto and then I'd like to do a little reading before I go to bed. I finally picked up Hyperion at the recommendation of Piotrek Pytko from almost a year ago.

I did manage to get out and Cross Country Ski today! I did about 2 miles on the Brownell's land and it felt fast and good.
When I got back I tied up a few loose ends at work but didn't really get any substantial work done.
I am gradually getting back in the groove of doing regular Pull Request reviews. That had taken a backseat to ... I don't know what over the last month or so. I have 13 open PRs that I haven't reviewed and I'm excited to try to get to a Raymond Zhou level of PR responsiveness by keeping that list of un-reviewed PRs nice and short.

This afternoon, I was able to help Emma out by making a snack for the boys when they came inside from playing in the snow. I made up some popcorn and got them setup with hot chocolate. Now they're playing Scratch and having a grand old time.
My hope is still to get out for a ski while they watch some TV. We'll see how that goes as the day is getting a bit long.

I started today on a high note with a quick Pair Programming Time with Andrii. He helped me walk through the tests that I only barely got working yesterday while debugging the SAML issue with Rivermark. We had a quick break for our squad standup before syncing really quickly on the fact that the failed SAML response did not seem different from the ones that worked. Looking closely, it appeard that the attributes were in the response, but they weren't saved to the log because the 400 error stopped the process of processing the response.
So the conclusion we came to is that we need more logging around the 400 errors and that likely due to the valid time for the error requests being right on the far side of when the SAML request was valid form, 5 minutes after it was created, and that we simply don't have enough info from the current 400 errors to diagnosis completely.
