Journal

A warm, humid day today. Got up after a really nice night of sleep to find Nabby

totally still asleep next to me. She's gotten pretty bitten by mosquitos and

such the last few days, so I wonder if she's just wiped. I feel pretty bad for

how she looks. For myself, I've just been letting myself get bit, and it seems

to be working pretty well. I have a few solo bites that itch, but mostly they

bites fade in intensity pretty quickly and I can get back to work.

Got a lot of good planting done yesterday, despite a host of events that led us

all over town. I feel bad leaving Emma inside with the kids, but I also know her

tolerance for the mosquitoes is lower and I can get more done faster. Still, I

want to be intentional about letting her get things done too.

Of course, today is also father's day. And we're not doing much special, but

it's at my request, so it is what it is. I don't think these holidays mean all

that much. Mostly I want to make sure I get time to go for a run, but duck

slaughter has to happen first or we're gonna drown in grain costs, and our front

yard will continue to get demolished.
