Today timed out nicely. I managed to get myself worked up about trying to get a run in, but once I put that idea aside, the day opened up. Emma managed to get the mutton stew done after my selectboard meeting and we took the stuffed duck breast from the other night and English muffins down to mom and Sarah. Mom seemed pretty excited about the duck. I will also say, that while Mom was initially pretty deferential about our coming down with food on Tuesdays, it's become a nice tradition.
Given all the ways we can't see each other, having this to look forward to is pretty great. I'm proud of Emma for coming up with this idea. It's hard to remember when things are going well, but Mom was in a pretty dark place a few months ago. Hopefully she feels better now.

In between the last retreat session and the Selectboard meeting, I managed to turn out ten [[roam:Sourdough English Muffins]]! We'll be bringing them down to Mom's house this afternoon when Emma's got dinner underway.
During the selectboard meeting this evening Johanna Sweet informed the board that the CAA will be hosting a fireside walk in town on Valentine's Day from 16:00 to 18:00. The idea is to set a firepit near the road on your driveway and for folks to enjoy taking a walk through town to say hi to neighbors.
I also kinda put my foot in my mouth trying to announce the re-convening of our Maine 200 Celebration committee on Thursday. I should have said nothing about it being public or not and just made the announcement.

Spent a little time poking around the issue with re-activating invited users via the 15Five Public API and discovered it will be a litte harder than I thought to get invitations resent. Perhaps that should be left for another ticket?

Been kind of a crazy day with the 15Five Virtual Retreat 2021 going on now. I still managed to start some dough for English muffins to take down to mom later today.
Interestingly, one thing that keeps coming up for me watching the virtual retreat presentations is the extent to which Engineering does not do many of the best-practices found in our other departments. There's a sense, I think, that R&D is how we communicate with others in the company, but the product and design parts have a much louder voice. I would love to spend more time talking about an Engineering Culture Working Group with Krystian Cybulski later this month. A few ideas kicking around right now are a newsletter, more pair programming, more sharing stories.

I slept in again, but aside from that, I'm feeling good about today. When I came downstairs I was reflecting on how things like the flickering lights and water pressure have slowly gotten better. Hopefully they continue that trend, but if you avoid the pits of despair over things, life generally seems to plod on.
After catching up with Emma Sweet about my day and making some coffee, I headed downstairs for a Stand-up with Partnership Squad. Everyone's been working a light schedule due to this being retreat week.
