Journal
A solid weekend day overall. I managed to finish (sort of) the clothes culling
job I had started yesterday. Then we went to church, where Margaret had some
really interesting thoughts on what's in a flag. She pointed out the ongoing
effort to update the Maine State flag and the history of the US flag. Jess had
the boys painting trees. Silas' was all crystal and glitter pens and said it was
what the trees looked like after the ice storm last week. In hindsight, I wish I
had remembered to grab it so we could put it up somewhere. Often church art work
is kinda blah. But Silas' tree today was great.
He and Asa were full of tons of energy after potluck, so I was just as happy to
have picked the trampoline park up in Orono for our afternoon activity. The boys
seemed to have a great time. Silas was tearing around like a mad man, while Asa
was a little more timid.
I hung out with Nabby for the hour we were there. We didn't venture over to the
actual trampolines till late, so really we paid to hang out at an indoor
playground and ball pit. Still not too bad.
When we got home Silas really wanted to play Cosmic Encounter. I had told Gabe
we could play D&D today, but Silas didn't want to play without Jane, and Gabe
was busy when we got home. So instead we busted out Cosmic, and it turned out to
be a lot of fun. The aliens are kind of gross at times, but both Silas and Asa
thought they were great. Asa crushed us all with Pacifict. I gave Silas Vacuum,
which is a fun one where he gets to drag as many ships as he lost down with him
into the void. Curiously, we've also been playing Eketorp lately, and the
mechanics are surprisingly similar. I was Filtch, which is a fun alien to play
as, though I don't think I played it particularly well. Half of Cosmic is
remembering when to play your ability :)
