I might actually get to bed by 11 tonight. Hallelujah.
I had this thought kicking around in my head the last few runs last week. After listening to Dan Harris' podcast on mindfulness and Buddhism, I got to thinking about the timelessness of our selves. Then at dinner on Friday Jess said something that made me think of the mound builders at Cahokia. While I was reading the Wikipedia post about that subject, there was a passing mention of how a 50 year drought most likely caused the downfall of their civilization. Sitting in a dry summer on the coast of Maine, I suddenly started thinking about how each growing season seems so important when you're in it. That's the human condition, right? The immediacy of the need for things to grow, to make sure you have what you need, and that you're not wasting your time.
Each season just comes and goes. Before we know it, next growing season will be peaking and we'll wonder why it was so dry last year. Maybe in another 8 years it wlil be a really wet year, like that season when we first moved to Timberwyck. Everything will just kind of keep ticking away. The now of now melts into a meaninglessness because there will always be another time, until there isn't, and then we wont know anything anymore.

I sort of managed to save today by plowing through all the low hanging fruit work I had piled up. That felt good, but now I'm stuck with some more hariy tickets that I don't see obvious solutions too. Back to investigation mode tomorrow.
What I'm really hoping is that I can be sort of proactive before bedtime tonight so everything is good to go by around 10:30 and I can go to bed. I keep thinking I can go to bed at 11, and then it ends up being 11:30 or midnight before I actually lay down. When I wake up I end up tired and unmotivated to run. What I would love is to start going to bed promptly by 10 or 10:30 and then get up around 5 so I can get a long run in before anyone wakes up. We'll see how that goes.

Today was a strange Monday. I've felt off balance most of the day. I wonder if it has to do with having not done my long run yesterday. Also, Jess informed Emma Sweet that Eli doesn't really have a place to stay right now and may need to come live with us. That put me in a funky mood for most of the morning.
Before Emma left to run errands in town I was able to touch base on exactly what that would mean and to express some concerns about feeding both Gabe and Eli everyday and what-not. Emma was pretty philosopical about it. But I still have my reservations about how long they can all live in the extension.

- Note taken on This was a slog. I kept thinking it would
be pretty easy. And it was once I sucked it up and just started creating
tickets in Jira. But I got distracted trying to view the endpoint information
locally, which meant I ran into some data quality issues that had been slowly
accreting on my dev instance. Today I blew away my old database and started
over, so that took some time. But now everything is nice and clean.

- Note taken on I'm giving up for now. It seems there's a
problem with emacs getting the wrong response back from the msmtpq command so
the mail sends fine, but it's done synchronously AND it doesn't close and
archive the message properly. I'll just deal with the delay in response. I
don't actually use email all much anyhow.

Using `msmtpq` enqueues messages. Then you have to have a cronjob or something that makes sure the queue is processed.

To my configuration and then using `smtpmail-send-queued-mail` to send it!
