Journal
It's a gorgeous day outside. But as happens when Emma has a headache, the whole
house is sort of on pins and needles. The kids are in a fine mood and want to
play and such, but Emma just wants quiet.
We're trying to figure out if we're doing the folk festival this year. The line
up is really diminished, and the kids have to be back to town by 4 to get ready
for the play.
Emma also just outlined a hilariously ambitious plan for the day of wanting to
work "really hard" in the garden to get a whole bunch weeded. That seems
sisyphean to me. Most of what's in the garden has already

Well, we're not getting to the folk festival this year. That's too bad. I was
really looking forward to it. I'm finding it harder and harder to understand
Jessica too. She was going to drive all the way to Bangor to ship a laptop to
Eli. I made a casual mention that she and Gabe could stop by the folk festival
and she said 'ugh.' I know she doesn't like crowds, but it seems crazy to that
you'd have basically the freedom to do whatever you want and just drive 1.5
hours round trip to ship a computer on a Saturday. It seems like terrible usage
of time. I hadn't even considered that you can UPS ship things from Ellsworth
in the morning before work. Good lord.
Emma pointed out how much we loved the Rajistani group from a few years ago, and
Jess made a fake Indian accent statement that I didn't really know what to say
to. I mentioned that thaat's probably not what Rajistanis sound like, as they
are different ethnic group from others in India, but that just made me look like
an asshole.
Jess works really hard, but there's just some wires loose sometimes that I don't
know how to handle. Of course, she's also exactly the person you want with you
in a personal crisis involving a kid, because she knows how to handle it without
going off the deep end, so long as it's not her kids ;)
