- Note taken on

The weather the last few days has been tremendous. After an overcast sky and fog the sun burned the clouds away and it's above 60Β° today. I also discovered, during the CMT meeting this morning, that while Indian Summer is not the most culturally sensitive expression, in Brazil it's called "Little Summer" which works pretty well.

In any case, one thing I was noticing about the warm weather today was that the sun is still close to the horizon. Really close. So even as the weather feels like late summer, the sun is telling us other things. I don't think I've ever been as aware of how the sun creeping lower to the horizon affects perception. It blinds you from certain directions and just doesn't give off much light during most of the day.

this would be it.
