A decent sized thunderstorm came through this afternoon. We need the rain so badly; it was welcome. The rain came while Emma was out doing a little grocery shopping and picking up milk at the Retberg's farm.

I've been reading Station Eleven for the last week or so. Reading about a much worse pandemic has made the current Covid-19 pandemic seem both less severe, but also more illustrative of the ways our world is not prepared (could we be prepared enough?) for a more serious pandemic. While the virulence of Covid-19 has been impressive, the rate at which is kills is pedestrian compared to what is possible with a mutation of influenza.

My work days have been a little scattered lately. I'm doing a lot of things, but they're not terribly well focused. I'm finding that when I stay in a pretty tight routine, things feel okay, but when I get out of that routine even a little bit things in my mind erode a little bit.

Today I slept in instead of going for a morning run. That's fine. In fact, it's exactly what happened last week and I still ended the week with 62 really strong miles.
