DONE Work journal

- Note taken on

In my one-on-one with Stephen we talked about the kinda-sorta engineering

reorg that's in the works right now, which is centered around three main

objectives of the company right now.

Basically, brand pod and the conversation funnel are a huge part of it, and it

makes sense that we're working in a kanban-style for now. He said he's working

with Dave Kong to figure out how we'll keep engineering expectations up while

we move fast.

- Note taken on

I should get in the habit of recording journal notes here so that it's easier

to capture non-task specific thoughts during the weekly updates.

The sorts of things I'm looking to update are risks to work and generally how

I'm feeling about work. For example, today I'm just trying to get caught up on

where I left off Friday. I am a little nervous about branching off the feature

branch for Cookbook Discovery Home public endpoints, but I can't really build

out the Parfait endpoint for upserting Collections without that branch.

1. Leverage

- Cookbook Discovery Kick-off kicked off the week; followed by catch-ups on the

project throughout the week

- Supporting discovery, added basic search to cookbooks along with a PR adding

"cookbook" to the Collection types available for Discovery Home, as well as

added public endpoints for Discovery Home (non-customer targeted)

2. Alignment

- Sprint 110 release engineer duties (Tuesday) + release cut (Friday)

- Opened PRs for a few parking lot tickets last week to keep Sprint moving

forward

- Wrapped up noslash spike (BE-7208), coordinated with clients and removed

remaining noslash code

- Reviewed & merged anonymous conversation API PR (BE-7680)

- Attended Order Release Post-Mortem

- Finished drafting goals for Q2

3. Risks

- Release engineering consumed a full day Tuesday

- Too much multi-threaded context-switching on Friday

- Feeling push from Brand Pod to work in a more kanban-y way … it's working to

juggle it now, but would love to come up with ways to add a little bit of

formalization to it

4. Outcomes

- Ship the public cookbook collection discovery endpoint

- Check in on Q2 goal setting
