Jess found the biggest dandelion buried in the flowering quince today! it was taller than Asa Sewell :) ... probably at least 3.5 feet tall if not 4.

- Note taken on

I went to bed with a dirty kitchen last night and slept in pretty late. That left me with a feeling of guilt that I should have done things to get the house clean. But when I woke up, even late, I was still able to complete the big tasks I had.

I cleaned the kitchen and got my offeratory written for the Sunday service this morning. Now I've got about an hour to kill before the service.

A solid run today. I felt stronger after having lowered my overall mileage this week. The actual results didn't really match how I felt, but that's not the most important thing. I went 16 miles, but felt like I probably could have done 18 to 20 today. At a pace that would put me finishing a marathon under 3:30 and that's been my goal for a long time. I even starting to think that a Boston qualifying time is not beyond my reach if I really work for it. I still have to prove myself on a race day. But this very slow build up of long mileage with only sporadic speed work seems to be doing wonders right now.

Friends, I wish I could make a call for your generosity with better news. I wish the world was not challenged by a Global Pandemic, and that our own country had already solved systemic, insidious racial injustice. Instead, I'll tell you, the world NEEDS your generosity, now.

As you've heard, today we're splitting the plate between our own collaborative ministry and the Movement for Black Lives. Locally, our collaboration helps to educate people on the struggles of those oppressed by history through free showings of films like Just Mercy and the Condor & the Eagle. Through our Internship Program, we're also helping to train up a new generation of UU ministers who can carry our banner of the inherent worth and dignity of all people into the wider world.

Meanwhile, the urgency of need for people of color and those who stand with them to be supported as they exercise their democratic right of protest has never been stronger.

Please join with us, give what you can, and support the activities of our collaborative ministry, and the movement to recognize that black people and people of color still do not live with the same peace of mind as others in our country.
