20:57 Soccer
Amidst all the other craziness, I started up coaching the Adams School soccer team again this week. Emma was a champ about letting me continue to do this even though we were going to have a new baby. She ended up at the Big House during practice with Asa and Nabby. Silas was my deputy coach, blowing the whistle all over the place and driving Ira nuts.
I always have a certain amount of apprehension going into a coaching season. And I am always blown away by how much fun hanging out with the kids is. There is a guilelessness and an enthusiasm from kids that is hard to find in adults. Even kids who are soon to be adults just kind of roll with things in a different way.
I was also plesantely surprised to find out that Patrick Dagan had transferred to Penobscot this year. I honestly can't imagine transferring from Castine TO Penboscot, in terms of the educational experience, but whatever. That's exciting for me because Patrick was pretty uncoachable. He would pick up a few things, but he wasn't interested in changing what he thought he already knew.
Meanwhile, the kids I have this year aren't all natural athletes, but the seem to already be working well as a team. Our scrimmage today was delightful, with each team seemingly pretty balanced.
Nabby is, thankfully, nursing well now. After our appointment with Dani yesterday, there was still some concern over her putting on weight, but it's mostly about increasing the amount of nursing, not trying to get her to want to nurse, thankfully. An adjustment for Emma, but Nabby wants it :)
Silas started his first year in Pre-K this year too. Watching him get on the bus this morning was adorable. Aside from not having him around, he seems to be a natural fit at school.
