Spent a chunk of time doing what I shouldn’t have today and playing THPS2 on
an N64 emulator. It was sort of to celebrate figuring this thing out. I
decomposed the actual view implementation with the decorators for the various
purposes. So now there are view implementations, and the public or private
APIs just wrap them up in what’s expected of them.
- Note taken on
For some reason the queries jumped up a ton on this. I think Piotr Grzesik
figured it out for me though, as the decorators were wrapped twice for auth
which was making things take longer than expected.

Gratitude for today: Being grateful for our mothers
My mother is endlessly curious about things and from her I inherited, amongst other things, a deep love for reading. Learning how to learn is perhaps the most important thing a human can figure out, and thanks to her I received a massive leg up in life that has helped me be successful in many thing I’ve attempted.
DONE Figure out how to install Certbot for [[id:60c3754d-e428-4a3e-8167-8414236c9c6c][PBP Project: Update SSL on Newspaper Sites]]

Whew! Okay, so I ended up having to use acme.sh to configure SSL. Then I
configured it to update with cron and setup Nginx. Total time, 3 hours.
- Note taken on
I’m now not sure it will be possible to use certbot for SSL
- Note taken on
Now I appear to be stuck with an install error for `weakrefset` when Certbot
tries to create a virtualenv. This seems to be an error with the base python
versions rather than pip or something else.
- Note taken on
Managed to figure out the SSL problem by manually installing OpenSSL 1.1.1
using https://robinbobin.livejournal.com/4126667.html Probably not the sanest
thing to do on the fly. But all the sites seem to still be running fine. Not
sure what happens when I restart nginx. We’ll see!
