Journal
Cris said I sounded happy during my mentorship call with him this morning. I had
to cut the meeting short so I could attend an API call with Andrii and Zoltan. I
felt kind of bad about that, but Cris seemed unfazed.
He was right though. I don't have a lot hanging over me right now and I'm
getting work approved and merged at work, which feels really good. There's still
all the issues with the house that we need to address. But most of this work has
been around for a while, so struggling with it now seems futile.
In the daily stoic, today's message was about digging up the fountain of
goodness within yourself. I think it's an interesting idea. On any given day we
have the capacity to approach with optimism and positive energy, but it's an
easier decision on some days than others.
The last few days it's been really easy, but I still find myself lapsing into
negativity at times. I think the hardest part is trying to understand
expectations that people have of me that I don't know about or have forgotten
about. I try to set a schedule for my day, but it often gets run through with
other things based on the whims of other people. This is neither good nor bad,
however. It is what it is. Whether I let myself be negative with myself for
these distractions, or look for ways to pull in these requests to my personal
system to do better at prioritization. That's the question.
