Jon suggested digging into the company/utils.py file and circular import issues
The issues here are that there's a ton of extra imports and a lot of what
utils does could better be done elsewhere
- Note taken on
In order to setup for this, I had to reconfigure my local install on iapetus.
This was a bit of a challenge and few things I learned:
- Ubuntu PG does not auto run on localhost, gotta set that up in /etc/postgresql.conf
- It's easier to make the fifteen5 user a super user rather than manually create extensions

Journal
Between listening to Slavoj, a Serbian philosopher, on Tyler Cowan's podcast and
reading a really interesting part of Debt about the debt relationship of those
who committed atrocities in the new world has been fascinating. Manifest destiny
is perhaps the best way to explain the mental framework we as Americans continue
to live in. Far from a history text book slogan, we still carry some
inevitability of perfection of governance, happiness, productivity, something. I
don't know how else to explain it.
It is as though Americans (and many Western Europeans, for that matter) fail to
appreciate the nature of belief in the pursuit of life goals. Everything is
considered, thoughtful and so must be scientific. But there is little scientific
about republican capitalism. There is nothing inevitable about the state of our
economy.
