I went to bed at 3:30 this morning and then slept through Partnership Squad Engineering Stand-up :frowning2:
Having run out of roasted coffee last night, I also had to roast coffee. With the sound of the roaster in the background I missed a conversation Emma and Jess about Gabe Breault wanting to spend Super Bowl Sunday at Eli and the other Emma's apartment in Bucksport. Emma was pretty frustrated that it seemed like Gabe was just slowing moving the mark on what's acceptable amounts of social time. Spending an hour or so in a car seems somehow different than 8 hours cooking and hanging out in an apartment.
For my part, I'm exhausted with trying to figure out what's acceptable for other people. I am on the one hand privileged to have all of my family around me and to work from home. On the flip side, I don't know what Gabe wants aside from what he can't have given Covid-19. He's very much a glass-half-empty person who is always looking around trying to figure out why the thing he wants right now is deserved and the thing he can't have is totally unfair.
That leaves situations like this feeling less like an honest discussion about what's safe, and instead just another tragedy to befall only Gabe during a global pandemic. And everyone who says no is the bad guy and being totally unreasonable. It's a shitty situation to try to parent from, or at least to try to responsible adult from.
