The guys from Barry's Septic and I walked around the property a whole bunch.
They probed the ground a bit and were able to find a metal tank a decent bit
into the woods on our "walking" path going out there. Upon digging it up, the
discovered a pipe running almost over the tank that was also full of shit when
on of the guy's shovels broke part of it.
With this revelation, they walked that pipe back, but couldn't find a more
modern septic tank. When they left, stymied by our stupid backyard, I resolved
to figure out what was backing up.
The pipe that was broken into was full of shit. But it's the outflow from the
floor drain. The floor drain was full of shit, not because the septic tank was
overful, but because of a blockage some where near the house in the extension
standpipe.
The drains from the kitchen and cape part of the house seem to still work fine.
We still need the tank pumped out, and probably need to start budgeting
thousands of dollars to have the whole system fixed. But the Barry's guy seemed
to think that once they pump it out, we could probably toss some plywood over
the hole and call it a day for another few years.

Journal
I continue to be unsettled today. At work the next sprint hasn't started, and
I've volunteered to help Evegniy with QA testing to get some stories done. So
I'm not totally sure what I should be doing this a.m. Combine that with Emma
continuing to leave Nabby in my care in the morning while she makes elaborate
food for bunnies for lunch before leaving for the morning with Asa for
gymnastics. It's really hard to carve out time to work these days. I think I
need to talk to her about how our days are going to go with school and such. It
seems like a lot of things are the result of a new schedule. I am hopefull they'll
get sorted out.
Soccer has it's own stress, as it's a big chunk of time that I'm simply
committed to being out of the house. Combined with an aggressive training plan
for the upcoming marathon and it's hard to manage. I think I need to bring my
expectations down some on the marathon and treat it as a nice to do, rather than
being militant about running.
On top of all of this is the septic tank backing up into the basement, a process
that was probably accelerated by adding two adults to the house who for a while
spent most of their days here. The other day Emma said that Jess said she felt I
was angry with her about something. I'm not angry, but I am getting really tired
of the way she passive aggressively makes recommendations without the ability or
interest in following up. It doesn't help that I'm passive aggressive about a
lot of things too.
