+ Different types of IDs
- Email, identifies someone, everyone knows what it is
- Email address change, last names change
- Company changes name or merges
- Issue where user using email not belogning to their company
- Email addresses are case-insensitive
- Sometimes people's names are spelled wrong
+ EmployeeID introduced to get around the changing of email addresses
- Free-form string, used for display purposes
- Now we match reviewer ID to Employee ID now :smile:
- Anyone can change and employee ID from Django admin
- Usually comes from the outside, but can be edited
- Can make no assurances about the quality, can use it without other options
- How will we refer to these fields unambigiously
- EmployeeID that shows up in our profiles
+ Each 15Five user as a UserID tied to the database entry
- Number cannot change (rare cases with VPCs or such it may not be true)
- Good ID except that it's technical, buried deep
- Sometimes we get IDs from other sources that look like UserIDs

+ SCIM ID and SAML ID
- SCIM is a generic protocl, don't know external system, any provider
- They will be sending us some kind of ID
- Could come from an upstream source like BambooHR or what have you
- But we note it as the SCIM ID
- SAML works the same way

- They map the ID to the Manager's UserID in 15Five
- Could have been an email, their internal ID or a 15Five UserID
- Now we also take into account the EmployeeID
