09:58 Spacemacs reset
Ugh ... lost a lot of time to trying to fix some issues with spacemacs recently. It is frustrating when tools slow you down, or at least hemorrage time. That said, I'm much more confident about where my configuration is and my terminal works great again. So that's a plus. I also fixed my bash history issues so now I'm saving a lot of history but also excluding sensitive data.
Madina from Elation setup a remote technical interview, which she's hoping I can complete before scheduling an on-site meeting. That makes sense, though I got the feeling that she was hoping I didn't notice that they want the tech review before having me flown in. I get it. I'm also not sure what would make me walk away from Ridecell right now. I'm very curious to see what their offer is, and need to be prepared to disappoint them or at least to negotiate depending on how much more they offer than Ridecell.
On the other hand, even if they offer close to the same amount, if the culture seems better, it might be worth a jump. Ridecell is doing great work, but between the top heavy leadership, questionable hires, and lack of investment in team building, the culture has definitly taken a downtick recently. Even if I don't like the Elation offer, it might be worth a conversation with someone other than Visu to talk over cultural issues. I'm not convinced Visu is a great manager. He IS a great engineer, but to be a manager you have to get people, not just get tasks done.
