Timeline

- Note taken on

Today was better than the weekend, but started out rough. The plumber who

showed up from Osborne's was clearly frustrated about a lot of things. While

in the end he wasn't cruel, he made me feel shitty for running a wood stove

while the temperature dropped. However, when Emma came home and mentioned that

the furnace was having trouble keeping up with the furnace I think he desisted

a little.

All that to say, between having the kids all morning and feeling helpless

while a plumber mucks about in your messy basement, it was a hard morning. But

the day got better once he had our living room zone fixed. He had to splice

out the two base boards with leaks in the hallway and craft room and just sort

of patched it through the bathroom and to the living room heaters.

Honestly, this whole thing has made me want to reconsider how we heat our

house. I kind of hate the idea of having very little idea about the best way

to heat our house and just "hoping" someone else has thought it through. Any

room with plumbing needs a way to keep it above freezing. But any other room

just needs a way to make it comfortable. Why do we make things so complicated

and fragile AND energy consuming?
