Nabby is sick again. This time she has some sort of viral infection in her lungs
that has caused a bout of pneumonia as well. It all manifested pretty suddenly
this morning after Nabby struggled through a number of days with a fever and
runny nose. When I got her out of bed this morning she was just having a really
hard time settling. I was also unable to put her down.
This added stress to my morning, as Emma seemed wholly unwilling to help with
Nabby at all. I had hoped to some cleaning around the house this morning and
instead was saddled with a baby. Jane held her for about 20 minutes which gave
me a chance to hang up laundry and start a new load. But all in all it was not a
very pleasant morning.
When I had a hard time waking Nabby up to drink water Emma thought it was
probably time to check out the hospital. We went to the clinic in town where
Margie pretty quickly encouraged us to go Blue Hill. Once there, they gave Nabby
an IV and some steroidal muscle relaxers to help with her bleeding. That's also
where we got the first provisional diagnosis.
The doc there, who was incidentally the a-hole we talked to when Asa had croup,
said he couldn't transport to Rockport, so we ended up in Bangor. Curiously,
this visit, so far, has been great. The pediatrician is really nice, we have a
great nurse and the facilities are really nice. I'm not sure what the horror
stories are all about, but I suppose we're not done yet.
