Journal

I was reading a post about running family meetings and better family dinners in

a blog this morning and got me wondering about the intentionality with which I

approach raising kids. I don't think there's anything revolutionary there. I

just need to be more thoughtful and to plan how we spend time more often.

Jail volunteering was great today. I volunteered with a woman who is the

librarian at College of the Atlantic. We talked about a number of things,

including the fact that Catherine Preston-Schreck and I are both from Illinois,

though she's from Bloomington/Normal. The jail was really light on people

today. We actually ended in about an hour and even got some good reorganization done.

On the drive home I was thinking about how I currently use my free time. I often

grab my computer and hit up hckrnews or lobsters. What if I dug into my maybe

list and did activities that I have previously called out as interesting? I also

have the side project to build a pillars of life app.
