Monday gratitude is about support that you receive.
I talk to my dad on the phone about once a year, text a few times more often than that. But even those it's been close to five years since I last saw my dad in person, and with all the various relational faults we carry between us, he's always in my corner. I gave a homily at church two weeks ago. All our services are via Zoom these days, and so I texted my dad the link. It was going to be on why science and religion are equally important in our lives and not exclusionary. He's always been pretty aggressively athiest and I thought he might appreciate my thoughts. He was really excited to join and despite being on the west coast, jumped on the call at 7 in the morning.
