Trying to figure out org-roam

- I joined the Org-Roam slack instance today as I endeavour to get better at

using this thing. I'm not sure I'm using it right yet, but I already feel like

I'm organizing my day better.

- The biggest piece is that I know where everything goes. I can plan days in

advance with future day pages and so I haven't actually abandoned some aspects

of daypages.

- The biggest thing I'm missing right now is automation of recurring tasks. It's

easy enough when all todo reminders live in one file, but it's harder when

they have individual days.

Kids doing work

- While I was making Sourdough doughnuts for the kiddos this morning, the Kids

were hanging out doing homework. It was delightful to see them settling into

work, and I wish I knew how to get them to do that more often.

Conversation about effort with Emma

- Hanging out with Nabby upstairs and Emma Sweet came up. I forget why. But we

ended up talking about how she's feeling unsupported with the kids right now.

She said she doesn't feel like it's safe to leave the kids with me.

- I pointed out that part of that is giving up control, as tactfully as I could.

Giving Up Control is probably a much bigger that everyone should

think about. I'm not great at it either.

- She asked if I could do breakfast on the weekends, and I said I would love to,

but I'd be doing it my ways. I like routines and Emma likes something

different everyday. While she was in AZ, I pointed out, we had small bowls of

cereal, yogurt and an egg. That was it.

- If you ask someone to do something, you don't then get to dictate how things

get done, but that's one of Emma's struggles.

- In the meantime, my struggle is keeping my shit together around Kids I often

go from, everything's fine to yelling and physically moving them really

quickly. I need to do a better job of staying calm. Asa Sewell is a

particular challenge because he does not like to listen.

First day on zoom with everyone

- Sunday Service had a pretty crazy setup today, we have 20 participants on

Zoom, a number of whom aren't normally at church, including Pam Pearson,

Tracey Hair and

- Need to use a better computer setup. The X220 battery is somehow not charging

so the stream died. And while recording with the windows computer that

computer died too. Both of them were at the same time, which was strange.

- Got a lot of great responses from folks who haven't been to services in a

while.

Talking with Mom on the phone

- She's lonely. Sarah was out at work and she hadn't talked to us in a while so

called to catch up. Seemed to be doing okay.

- She seemed mostly concerned about not being able to do grocery shopping in any

reasonable way. A lot of what she does is shop by feeling, so making a list is

foreign to her.

- I advised her that when Sarah got home, or sometime this week she could go for

a nice long drive and see some parts of the state she hadn't seen in a while.

- Sarah also brought up the idea of a adopting, or just fostering, a dog for

company and to have a reason to go for a walk.
