Back to swimming again this morning. I am going to try to use fewer superlatives or generic adjectives here going forward, as I'm not sure "nice" says as much as explaining what is nice about something. Thinking while swimming always stris up curious things. Spent a chunk of time thinking about how the election has gone. I haven't been as proactive as I could have been, but I also did not mean to be that proactive, so in that sense I met my goals. I really have no sense of how it's going to go, and don't even have a clear preference at this point.
Talking with Emma the other day about the restaurant downtown that was bought by a group of nearby property owners to make sure it was never a restaurant again gives one pause as to how much change Castine is actually in for. I suppose the bigger issue here is that the town needs to find ways to be sustainable while also being intellectually honest about the character of the town. There are a lot of people who don't want specific things in their back yard. That's okay, so long as we're also supporting our community.
